The Heritage Brass Quintet, formed in 1973, presents a blend of music spanning more than 350 years. The quintet’ s repertoire draws from classical selections such as Bach and Handel, jazz selections from such artists as Scott Joplin and Henry Mancini as well as popular music and patriotic pieces.
The quintet’ s versatility stems from diverse educational backgrounds and professional experiences. Members hold degrees from music schools all over the country, including the Central Methodist College, University of Louisville, Emporia State University, Indiana University, Bowling Green State University, and the University of Texas at Austin. They have performed with such orchestras as the Kansas City Symphony, the Greater Boston Youth Orchestra, the Midland-Odessa Symphony, the Lima Symphony, and the Virginia Symphony. The quintet members have also performed with many chamber music ensembles including, the Summit Brass, Louisville Brass Ensemble, and the Mid-America Woodwind Quintet.
Comprised of two trumpets, horn, trombone, and tuba, the quintet is suited to perform in such varied venues as schools, museums, hospitals, and formal concert halls. Additionally, the quintet presents clinics and master classes at the elementary, secondary and collegiate levels. Heritage Brass offers a musical experience that can be enjoyed by all audiences.
